Mandeville Canyon Road, Brentwood — Canyon Estate Gunite Pool With Fire Zone Deck
A canyon estate on Mandeville Canyon Road backed onto conservancy land with Zone Zero defensible space requirements along the rear property line. The pool needed to be positioned within the available buildable footprint while meeting LADBS hillside setback requirements and the HOA’s architectural review standards.We produced a freeform gunite pool design that responded to the canyon terrain. The pool shape follows the natural grade rather than imposing a geometric form on an irregular site. Sealed concrete deck meets Chapter 7A non-combustible requirements. Equipment enclosure was designed to the HOA’s material standards and positioned to minimize audible impact on the canyon edge. All permits — pool, grading, and electrical — were filed simultaneously.
